If you’re anything like me, you are thrilled that Halloween is over and you are now stressing over the bags of candy in your kid’s rooms.
Sure, the amount of candy will quickly disappear, but my kids will soon realize that I’m the one eating those mini Snicker’s bars and chewing those gummy bears and then all hell will break loose.
In an attempt to move through a good deal of candy and be done with it, we enlist my husband’s tradition of the Super Duper.
What’s a super-duper? Well, it’s an extraordinary ice cream sundae complete with symmetrically placed pieces of Halloween candy and a secret ingredient.
What’s the secret ingredient that takes an ordinary (albeit somewhat OCD) ice cream sundae completely over the top?
What’s so super?
What’s so duper?
Do you want to know the secret ingredient??
Promise you won’t laugh?
It’s pretzels.
There is something just so right about having the salty, crunch addition to a bowl of ice cream that is inspired.
And when my husband decided to make a super duper sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies earlier this summer… well, let’s just say that it’s all kind of caloric right. Sure, it’s totally over the top and gut-retching… but in a good way.
But be careful! A super duper is not just a scoop of ice cream dumped with Halloween Candy. No! A Super Duper is designed and symmetrical. That’s part of the secret.
So when you’re done bindging on Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Hershey’s Bars, create a super duper for the whole family. They’ll love it and there won’t be much candy left over.
Just don’t forget the pretzels! Otherwise, it’s just ice cream and candy.

for salty also try ruffles potato chips
Genious!
Deena, this looks pretty fricken Super Duper to me…..I want one! Great idea for left over sweets. Though I’d be tempted to go buy sweets at any time of the year just to make one!
No need to keep it just for post-Halloween candy…. We do this all year long!
This is a genius post for post-Halloween! Pretzels indeed are a crucial element and no Super Duper would be complete without them, but for me the secret ingredient was not any item that could be found in the pantry – it was actually the “secret” part! I remember the sundaes were created by Dad without us kids allowed to watch the process (and of course the sundaes would be different every time depending on the available ingredients) so we were genuinely surprised every time by what came out of the kitchen. Fond memories! Just wanted to share!
